"Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" is a Japanese manga series penned and brought to life through the illustrations of Koyoharu Gotouge. It graced the pages of Shueisha's shōnen manga magazine, Weekly Shōnen Jump, from February 2016 until its conclusion in May 2020. The individual chapters were compiled into a total of 23 tankōbon volumes.

The narrative unfolds in Taisho-era Japan, a time when demons roam the shadows. Tanjiro Kamado, a compassionate young boy earning a modest living by selling charcoal, returns home one fateful day to a horrific scene: his entire family has been brutally slaughtered by a demon. The sole survivor is his younger sister, Nezuko, who has been transformed into a demon herself.

However, Nezuko remarkably retains some semblance of her human will and does not succumb to the typical bloodlust of demons. Determined to avenge his family and find a way to turn his sister back into a human, Tanjiro embarks on a perilous journey.

Along his path, he encounters Giyu Tomioka, a demon slayer who initially attempts to eliminate Nezuko. However, witnessing Nezuko's unusual behavior and Tanjiro's fierce determination, Giyu directs Tanjiro to Sakonji Urokodaki, a retired Demon Slayer, for training.

After rigorous training, Tanjiro gains the skills necessary to join the Demon Slayer Corps, a secret organization dedicated to eradicating demons and protecting humanity. He begins his missions, confronting various formidable demons and encountering fellow demon slayers, including his eventual companions: the cowardly but surprisingly powerful Zenitsu Agatsuma, and the fiercely independent, boar-masked Inosuke Hashibira.

Their journey leads them through encounters with members of the Twelve Kizuki, the most powerful demons who serve directly under Muzan Kibutsuji, the progenitor of all demons and the one responsible for the Kamado family's tragedy. The Demon Slayers face increasingly dangerous battles as they strive to find a cure for Nezuko and ultimately defeat Muzan.

"Demon Slayer" is celebrated for its compelling characters, emotional storytelling, intense action sequences, and exploration of themes like the bond between siblings, the struggle between good and evil, and the importance of perseverance and hope in the face of despair. The manga's popularity has led to a highly successful anime adaptation, films, and various other media.
