Ellis Silver's argument is that humans display a set of characteristics unusually poorly suited to this planet — chronic back pain from bipedalism, sunburn, difficult childbirth, a 24-hour circadian rhythm that suits a 25-hour day, and an unusual susceptibility to chronic illness.

From that he builds the case that the species did not evolve here, and works through the possible explanations, the objections, and the evidence for and against each. It is speculative by design and Silver is upfront about that; the interest is in the catalogue of anomalies rather than the conclusion.
