This book, written by Muhammad Asad, is an excellent overview and thoughtful book about Islam. Although probably not for the reader wanting to know the basics about Islam--this book is more in depth and detailed, and more for the more knowledgeable reader.
Muslims should read this to get a clearer picture of how Western civilization and culture, and the culture of the Islamic Deen, can or should interact. There's so much each culture can gain from each other, without losing the essentials specific to their own beliefs and ways of life. Asad does an excellent job exploring that, and I highly recommend this thoughtful book.

This book encourages the reader to look beyond these external forms and understand Islam as a comprehensive way of life, a system of thought, and a profound worldview.
I loved the insights presented in this book. Muhammad Asad was one of the most influential Islamic scholars of the 20th century and this book talks about some of the main challenges facing the Muslim world in the face of growing Western influences. Totally worth a read if one is interested in the subject.
