"Savage" by Erin Russell is the first book in the "Sins of the Banna" series, a dark M/M mafia romance. It takes place in the same universe as the author's "Possum Hollow" series but can be read as a standalone.

The story follows Tadhg, the "mafia prince of Oklahoma," who hates his life within the criminal underworld. When war breaks out between his family and the Aryan Brotherhood, he's forced into hiding in a remote Missouri town. The unexpected upside of this situation is the chance to reconnect with his long-lost little stepbrother, Micah.

Tadhg spent his childhood protecting Micah from their violent father, and seeing him again stirs a sense of the "good person" he thought was buried. He hopes to rebuild their connection, but he finds that Micah is no longer the shy, scared kid he remembers. Micah is now confident and unafraid to stand up to the homophobic individuals Tadhg works with.

Inspired by Micah's strength, Tadhg begins to wonder if he can reclaim his own soul, which has been chipped away by a lifetime of violence under his father's control. With Micah's unexpected help, he might just have a chance at a different future.
